Florida law sets insurance requirements for transportation network companies (TNCs) like Uber and Lyft, and the coverage depends on what the driver was doing. While a driver is logged into the app and waiting for a ride request, lower limits apply. Once a ride is accepted and through the end of the trip, the TNC’s coverage generally must provide at least $1 million in liability coverage for death, bodily injury, and property damage. Your own PIP usually still applies first for your medical bills. Screenshots of the app, the ride receipt, and the driver’s status at the moment of the crash can be important evidence.
